I’m so glad you’ve found our website. we know how important it is for you to get to your therapist before working with them, so here are some things about me! My name is Amaiya Hall and I am a Pre Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I graduated from Lipscomb University in May 2024.
I am originally from Memphis, TN, and received my BS in Psychology from Mississippi State University in 2022. I am an Enneagram 4 and INFJ on Myers Briggs, so I’m romantic, compassionate, and empathetic to others. In my free time, I love to listen to true crime and MFT podcasts, spend time with friends and family, try different vegan restaurants (I’ve had a plant-based diet for over two years!), and write poetry. The first poetry book I’ve written is on Amazon and is called “The Middle Child” https://a.co/d/bHSwTJT. I’m passionate about helping adults and couples connect through their relationship issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, and grief, especially those who are part of the BIPOC community. I also love creating a safe space for children and adolescents struggling with identity, school, and home life.
Here’s a more specific look at who I help:
• Children (ages 4-11)
• Pre-teens and adolescents (age 12 and up)
- Couples
Adults struggling with:
• Anxiety
• ADHD
• Bipolar disorder
• Depression
• OCD and more
Therapy Modalities Used
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help patients manage their problems by changing the way they think (cognitive) and what they do (behavior). It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression.
• Experiential & Play Therapy
Experiential Play Therapy focuses on allowing the child to express his or her feelings through the symbolism of play. This therapy consists of building trust with the child, validating, expressing respect and supporting their expression of feeling.
• Internal Family Systems (IFS) Parts Work
IFS therapy focuses on helping people heal by accessing and healing their protective and wounded inner parts. IFS creates inner and outer connectedness by helping people first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts. Learn more about IFS here.
• Attachment-focused therapy
Attachment-based therapy is an approach to therapy that specifically targets those thoughts, feelings, communications, behaviors, and interpersonal exchanges that patients have learned either to suppress and avoid or to amplify and overemphasize because of early attachment experiences.
• Emotions Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples
EFT offers a systematic approach to reduce distress and conflict, and to increase tenderness and security, in loving adult relationships. This model can help couples to identify, understand and alter negative interaction cycles within their relationship, and to strengthen the emotional bonds that make their relationship satisfying.
